This Unit provides students with a foundational knowledge of the cybersecurity landscape and the tools to evaluate and manage security protocols in information processing systems. It introduces the strategic and national security challenges of cybersecurity. Students explore information security and important technology concepts as well as cyber hygiene principles to remain safe in the digital world. Students will consider cyber-criminality and its impact on society, prompting them to think critically about the relationship between cyber security and privacy. This unit also provides insights into the cybersecurity risks faced by businesses and the role that risk management plays in addressing those risks. This Unit also covers IT security in an organisational context, focusing on security policy, security risk assessment, security audit, security vulnerabilities, and security event management processes. Students learn the skills to defend their organisation and their personal computers from the most common forms of attack.
